April Lockhart was born on July 4, 1995. When she was in the seventh grade, she started playing the guitar as well as taking piano lessons which ignited her passion for writing songs. At the age of 12 April came up with her first original song Different. The singer spent much of her time at 14 writing songs and practicing music. After that, she started taking trips to write with her father, who lived in NY and LA. April featured other topics in her hit song"Take my Hand. These topics were meant for the friends of hers who struggled with issues such as peer pressure and disabilities, or even teenage suicidal thinking. Lockhart is an influencer in the beauty and lifestyle industry with a growing number of followers. She is a partner with the popular brand Ilia with whom she has a partnership and is also a specialist in lifestyle. Her birth was without a left hand. It's part of her story, but this isn't the whole truth. The profile of Lockhart on Twitter does not ignore her being disabled and does not focus on it. What's the message? It's crucial to understand that each of us has numerous faces. Our identities are varied and we are much more than our bodies. Lockhart states in the video Lockhart via video "I do not believe that disability is what defines me. I don't intend to be an influencer on disability, because I've many more things to contribute." My day-today life is not directly affected by disability. I lead a normal daily life, and come up with myself solutions for problems. It's also a part of me, and I believe it's something that needs to be addressed. The journey of self-acceptance that Lockhart has taken will be one that lasts a lifetime, but she has been a source of inspiration with regard to this. However, she admits that she has had periods of feeling uneasy about her appearance as well as wearing clothes with arms. Today, she wears what she's comfortable in and post pictures of herself in these outfits on social media, she is proud of herself. Self-love, she says, is like a journey. "I don't think you will ever be in that place," she said. It's a fact that I see for everyone, whatever the source of their anxiety.
